Compare Truly Unlimited Broadband

Truly unlimited broadband is the perfect Internet access option for really serious web users.

The first thing that many people think about when choosing a broadband package is the download speed. But what good is a fast connection if you're limited in terms of how much you can download? This is where truly unlimited broadband comes into its own, as there’s nothing to restrict what you can do online, or how much you download.

But not all unlimited broadband packages are truly unlimited. That’s why we’ve rounded up all of the best truly unlimited broadband packages and bundles for you, right here on this page.

Unlimited broadband without fair usage policy

Not all unlimited broadband packages are truly unlimited. In fact, all but a handful of providers actual do limit the amount of data that users can download each month, even though they still advertise their packages as being “unlimited”.

Many broadband providers operate a “fair usage policy” to limit the broadband usage of their customers. This means that somewhere in the small print the provider will state an actual figure for how much data you can download each month.

But with our selection of truly unlimited broadband packages and bundles there are no fair usage policies – just completely and utterly unlimited broadband.

Broadband with no traffic management

Traffic management is another method employed by some ISPs to penalise very heavy users, even with packages advertised as being unlimited. Some ISPs refer to this as network management or traffic shaping, but it all means the same thing.

Again, on most broadband contracts you’ll be able to find details of the traffic management policy somewhere in the small print. In a nutshell, traffic management is employed at peak times of the day to slow down (or “throttle”) the connection speed of users that it considers are downloading usually large amounts of data.

So, although these users will still be able to download a very large amount, or even an unlimited amount of data each month, the speed at which they can download may be severely affected for a large portion of each day.

You’ll be please to hear that the truly unlimited broadband packages you’ll find on this page aren’t subject to any traffic management activities. This means that if you sign up for one of these deals you’ll be able to download as much as you like each month with no artificial throttling of your broadband connection.

Compare truly unlimited broadband deals

There are currently only a handful of truly unlimited broadband deals available in the UK. Each package has different things to offer such as different download speeds and different bundle options, while some providers are only able to offer truly unlimited broadband in specific areas of the country.

Sky Broadband Unlimited

Sky was the first provider to offer truly unlimited broadband in the UK. The core package, Sky Broadband Unlimited features up to 20Mb downloads, a free Sky Box wireless router and a truly unlimited monthly download allowance.

The real beauty of Sky Broadband Unlimited is that it can be bundled with a range of TV services to give you hundreds of TV channels including Sky Sports and Sky Movies, Sky+ HD and even 3D. Sky is also a home phone provider that will let you choose to add either evening and weekend (off-peak) or anytime calls to your Sky Broadband Unlimited package.

Sky Broadband Unlimited is only available to customers who live inside the Sky broadband network. Unfortunately Sky does not offer unlimited broadband packages to consumers who live outside their network.

O2 unlimited broadband

You may also be able to get O2 unlimited broadband if your home lies within the O2 network area. If you do then you’ll have the choice of both The All Rounder and The Works, either of which can be combined with an inclusive calls plan and line rental to help you save money. Whichever option you go for you'll get a free wireless router and 24/7 technical support from a UK call centre.

Unfortunately O2 doesn’t offer any unlimited broadband packages outside their network area.

Orange unlimited broadband

The mobile phone operator Orange also offers truly unlimited home broadband packages, both as standalone broadband services and as broadband and calls bundles.

Orange unlimited broadband has a download speed up to 20Mb and when you subscribe you’ll get an Orange ‘N’ wireless router, unlimited Wi-Fi usage at UK hot spots and Internet security software.
