O2 History
Rebranded from BT Cellnet in early 2002 Telefónica O2 UK Limited is the UK’s largest mobile phone provider. In the UK alone they have over 21 million mobile phone customers and over 500,000 fixed line broadband customers.
More and more people are flocking to O2 every year, not least because O2 came out top in for customer satisfaction according to the J.D. Power and Associates UK Mobile and Fixed Broadband Studies (2009) for both fixed broadband & UK mobile customers.
Home Broadband
O2 home broadband offers connection speeds up to 16Mbps in a range of different packages each of which has its own benefits and restrictions. All packages, even those offering unlimited downloads, are restricted by a fair usage policy.Most O2 home broadband deals come with a free wireless router and most are offered on a 12-month contract with a few available on 30 day contracts. Bigger savings are often available for customers who combine their home broadband package with a mobile phone subscription.
O2 The Basics
O2 The Basics – As the name suggest this is O2’s most basic home broadband package. Users can expect connection speeds of up to 16Mbps although they are restricted to 20GB of downloads per month.O2 Basic & calls – This is the same as the above package but with the added bonus of unlimited free evening and weekend calls to UK land lines.
O2 Basic & anytime calls – If you’re a heavy phone user then this may be the package for you. It has the same download restrictions as above but with unlimited free calls to UK land lines at any time, even during peak business hours.
O2 The All Rounder
All rounder – If you’re a heavy downloader then this package beats the basic package hands down. It still promises connection speeds of up to 16Mbps but with no limit to the amount you can download each month.All rounder & calls – This package gives you the same unlimited downloads with the added bonus of unlimited free calls to UK land lines all weekend and every evening.
All rounder & anytime calls – This All Rounder package will suit the heaviest phone users with free unlimited calls to UK land lines at all times.
O2 The Works
O2 The Works – The Works is O2’s package for gamers and movie fans. There are no download limits and it boasts higher upload speeds than their other packages as well as 16Mbps downloads.O2 The Works & calls – As above but with the added boon of unlimited free phone calls to UK land lines all weekend and each evening.
O2 The Works & anytime calls – Perfect for the chattiest users this package includes free calls all day, every day.
Mobile Broadband
O2 currently offers a number of great mobile broadband packages, some of which include some great freebies.
